Leisure Facilities

We are pleased to announce that we are able to offer our guests free use of the Leisure Club facilities at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel ( previously called Marine Hotel). They include,gym, pool, sauna jacussi and steam room.


Walking

You can walk out of our door and be on the SW coastal path,all 625 miles of it, or you can sit and enjoy some of our 9 sandy safe beaches. There is also fantastic walking for all ages and standards in Dartmoor National Park which is about 40 min away.

Water Sports

If you are interested in water sports you can hire a dinghy or have sailing instruction with the ICC based in Salcombe http://www.icc-salcombe.co.uk. There is also power boat instruction available with Salcombe Power Boat School http://www.salcombepowerboats.co.uk.

There are fantastic scuba diving sites over wrecks if you are interested contact Salcombe Scuba http://www.salcombescuba.co.uk. There is water skiing and wake boarding,the options are endless. You can also hire a small motor boat and explore the creeks of the Estuary or go fishing. There is also a very good surfing and kite boarding beach 15 mins away at Bantham.

For those wishing a quieter time, there is the National Trust property Overbecks to visit with its superb garden and views. There are also many other NT properties in the area to visits for example Coleton Fishacre in Dartmouth and Greenways, Agatha Chrisitie old home where the garden only is open. You can also visit where Agatha wrote a few of her novels on Burgh Island, a fantastic art deco hotel which you can walk to at low tide http:///www.burghislandhotel.com

If you are interested in gardens there is of course the Eden Project which is about 1.30 hrs drive away which is a must if staying for a couple of days, a unique and exciting project and now internationally acclaimed http://www.edenproject.co.uk.
There is a fantastic day out on a steam train and boat trip up the Dart visiting Paignton and Dartmouth.http://www.paignton-steamrailway.co.uk.

Golf/Tennis
For those who are interested in golf , there are two fine courses nearby in Thurlestone and Bigbury. Salcombe has very good artifical grass tennis courts if you want to bring your raquets.Have a look at their site http://www.salcombetennisclub.org.uk
